8.59 Pontiac Catalina
Rare Bubble top 59 Pontiac Catalina coupe (no pillar when windows are down), out of decades of storage last year, with thousands of dollars recently spent to make it a safe and reliable driver. 389 V8, 4-speed AT, manual steering and brakes. Starts and runs wonderfully. Recent work includes brakes, shocks, tires, muffler, front end components, tune-up, carb rebuild, oil change and chassis lube, gas tank sending unit, fuel pump, interior and trunk carpets, and more. 108K miles. This is the same body shell as the 1959 Chevy Impala hardtop, but a much more usable car: big-block 389 vs small block 283, 4 speed automatic vs 2-speed auto. With a 59 Pontiac you have the same size, weight, and great late-50's style, but a car that is more capable of keeping up with modern traffic. First year of the iconic Pontiac split grill, rocket fins, and one of the best dash layouts ever. The motor runs great and has tons of power, and absolutely flies down the highway. Rear end gearing makes for easy interstate speeds all day long. Lights, horn, heater, gauges, and wipers all work. Transmission shifts through the gears without any noises. Charging system works well, as does the cooling system. Body wise, the car is basically straight except for small dents and dings, but no signs of accidents. A previous owner touched up the white paint with a rattle can in many places, but not the red, which is still factory, including the wheels. This is a very clean car with numerous cosmetic flaws, but is complete, running, and ready to go. Right year, right colors, right body, right drivetrain. Most of these coupes are either complete basket cases or expensive, fully restored cars – this is a rare chance to get into a “driver ’59 bubbletop that is ready to enjoy, for not much money, and a red and white one at that. You just don't find GM bubbletops out there in this price range. $13,950
