55. 48 Cadillac
This 1948 model 61 represents one of only 152 (3%) manual transmission equipped cars out of 5081 sedans built for 1948. There are very few that survive today and it of course now very rare. Refreshingly original, it was found after being stored for a decade by a family who's father and owner of the car passed away, having meticulously maintained it for decades prior to his passing. Uncorrupted in many respects, it's devoid of accident damage, body filler, or rust issues, but reveals only the usual suspension minor surface rust, very normal for the vintage. Its lacquer finish is predominantly original, with some lacquer blended touched up areas over its 72 years, and some random checking and flaking. Despite this, it presents itself very nicely and for all intents and purposes should be left in its originality. Powered by a wonderfully running, quiet and smooth 346 cubic inch LHead 90 degree V8 engine and coupled to a very rare ( again, only 3% equipped) three speed manual transmission, followed by a 3.77:1 live axle differential, it runs , drives and cruises nicely. It is also equipped with power steering. Its tan and chocolate interior livery is simply gorgeous and shows no wear, with a gorgeous dashboard and gauges accentuated by spun aluminum trim at the base of the unique for the year "Horseshoe" shaped speedometer. Mileage is original and correct and has not turned over. The Cadillac is very nicely and carefully sorted and recently comprehensively serviced. original 1948 workshop manual. $15,950
